Relocating – Is St Kitts & Nevis a Good Place to Live?

Can I Move to St Kitts & Nevis?

If you’re only planning on staying in St Kitts & Nevis for part of the year, it may be possible to stay without having to apply for residency. Citizens of the USA, Canada, the UK, and many countries in the EU and the Caribbean can stay in St Kitts & Nevis on vacation without a visa for up to 90 days. If you wish to stay longer, you can apply for permanent residency or for citizenship via the St Kitts & Nevis Citizenship By Investment Program.

St Kitts & Nevis Permanent Residency

Individuals who own a property or land in St Kitts & Nevis and wish to stay in the country longer than 3 months may apply for permanent residency.

To apply for permanent residency there is an application fee of EC $200 plus a one-time payment of EC $3,800 upon approval which usually takes 6 months to 1 year.

In contrast to the Citizenship by Investment Program (outlined below), permanent residency is time limited and must be renewed.

St Kitts & Nevis Citizenship by Investment

St Kitts & Nevis also operates a Citizenship by Investment Program which allows eligible investors to acquire citizenship of the country in exchange for a significant financial contribution or an investment in approved St Kitts & Nevis real estate.

To qualify, an applicant must make an investment of at least US $400,000 in approved real estate or make a non-refundable financial contribution of US $150,000 to the St Kitts & Nevis Sustainable Growth Fund (SGF).

Additional costs are applied for any spouse or dependents included in the application, as well as fees for due diligence and government processing.

The real estate investment must be held for a minimum of 5 years.

Successful applicants receive full citizenship for life, a St Kitts & Nevis passport which offers visa-free access to over 150 destinations around the world and very attractive tax benefits such as no personal income tax, no inheritance tax and no wealth tax.

Another advantage, St Kitts & Nevis has no restrictions on dual citizenship so there is no need to renounce your existing citizenship.
