Citizenship is for life and confers the right to full residency status, with the right to work and enjoy dual citizenship and visa-free travel to the EU, Canada and many other countries.
As a result of the programme, property prices have been rising, but still compare favourably to other Caribbean locations. The Tourism sector is also very healthy - The islands attract over half a million tourists each year. When not in residence, owners can rent out their St Kitts and Nevis property to visiting tourists and earn significant rental income.
Foreign nationals buying property in St Kitts and Nevis are required to obtain an Alien Landholding License upon paying a deposit. This costs 10% of the purchase price. The License is property specific and non-transferable. St Kitts and Nevis property can be acquired either through transfer of deed or by obtaining a Certificate of Title.
