The British Overseas Territory of Anguilla is one of the Caribbean’s best-kept secrets, measuring just 35 square miles and home to 15,000 people. For foreign nationals, the property buying process is relatively straightforward. A foreign national will require an Alien Landholders License which costs $400 and will require an interview from a representative of the Chief Minister's office.
Foreign nationals may also purchase up to 0.5 acre of land, but are required to build a minimum of 2,000 sq ft of gross external floor area. Planning permission must be sought from the Anguilla Lands and Surveys Planning Board prior to obtaining an Alien Landholding License. Construction must then be completed within 18 months of the License being issued.
