Dominical is located in Bahía Ballena de Osa District in the province of Puntarenas on the southern pacific coast of Costa Rica.

It is situated approximately 45 km south of Quepos, the gateway to the Manuel Antonio National Park and just north of Dominicalito.

Dominical is also the ideal jumping off point to visit the Costa Ballena (Whale Coast) in Uvita which lies to the south of Dominical,
