Bonaire is a divers dream and is home to some of the most spectacular scuba diving sites in the world. This Island is a true Caribbean paradise. The island is surrounded by coral reefs and the entire coastline is a marine sanctuary. Bonaire is also famed for its flamingo populations. Bonaire is located in Netherlands Antilles, and is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Aruba Bonaire and Curacao forms a group referred locally as the ABC islands. Bonaire was originally claimed for the Spanish by Amerigo Vespucci and Alonso de Ojeda in 1499. Bonaire enjoys one of the highest standards of living in the Caribbean region and has diverse appeal. The stunning white beaches host many activities, such as sailing, fishing, windsurfing, snorkeling and diving. The Currency is the Antilles Florin however US dollars are widely accepted. The property market is flourishing and properties are highly sort after on this Caribbean jewel. Vendor's tax and Stamp Duty is usually 3 – 4%% of property value plus a percentage of property value. Bonaire has a real estate tax which is called a ground tax and is generally between 800 and1500 us, this varies depending on the value of property. This applies to all residents and non-residents.
