As hotels continue to reopen and recovery efforts gather pace on St Maarten, United Airlines has restarted flights to the island that was hit by Hurricane Irma last year.

United Airlines: Once Weekly Flights Between Newark & St Maarten

The US-based carrier suspended flights to St Maarten in the wake of the hurricane and the extra airlift will undoubtedly help to rejuvenate tourism and real estate in St Maarten.

The flights will be operated once per week between Newark, New Jersey and Princess Juliana International Airport.

Acting Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunications (Ministry TEATT) Cornelius de Weever commented: “The return of United Airlines once again demonstrates that the country is slowly moving forward and the destination is open for business.”

Spirit Airlines: Fort Lauderdale – St Maarten Flights from 5th May

United Airlines’ move follows an announcement by low cost carrier Spirit Airlines to launch flights between Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport and St Maarten on 5th May 2018.
