Stayover tourist arrivals to Belize smashed records as tourism growth outpaced rest of the Caribbean.

Belize’s tourism sector achieved phenomenal success in 2017.

Belize Tourism Arrivals Growth Outpaced the Rest of the Caribbean

Tourism arrivals to this Central American country on the Caribbean Sea grew at a faster rate than nearly all other countries in the Caribbean region.

Belize welcomed 1.4 million tourists to its shores in 2017, which represents an increase of 11% compared to the previous year.

The country’s tourism growth outpaced all other Caribbean nations except for the Eastern Caribbean island of St Lucia, which also achieved a growth rate of 11%.

There was an increase in both overnight and cruise tourist arrivals, with the former surpassing 400,000 for the first time ever.

2017 was therefore one of the best years on record for Belize tourism.

It comes as no surprise then that the country was recently named as “one of the best places to vacation” by ABC News.
